About the role

Australia’s most trusted celebrity weekly is looking for a writer, to cover topics including Hollywood gossip, breaking news, reality television, royals, inspiring real life stories, feature reports and more for print and online. You will be expected to interview talent and write to the brief. You will also be expected to represent WHO at events, set up and attend photoshoots and generate a stream of great news and feature story ideas. You will assist the Associate Editor, senior news and features writer and report to the Editor.

Duties

• Researching and writing in-depth news, features, lifestyle and entertainment content for print and online.
• Contributing regularly to news meetings, sharing ideas for all sections of the magazine, particularly news and features.
• Conducting interviews with local and international talent as well as experts, both over the phone and in person.
• Liaising with talent and network PRs, organise and attend photo shoots.
• Liaising with our digital team to upload copy and supply behind the scenes content from photoshoots and events.
• Staying on top of celebrity and world news as it breaks.
• Willing to represent the brand at events.

Skills and experience

• At least three years’ writing experience, preferably at a fast-paced weekly magazine, digital site or newspaper.
• Proficiency in InCopy and Windows and CMS an advantage.
• The ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure.
• Strong social media skills.
• A university degree in a related field.
• A knowledge of and passion for all things celebrity.
