THE OPPORTUNITY
Pulp & Paper is a big part of what we do at Visy. We are proud of all the paper we produce, in particular our recycled paper. That is because, when we say it's recycled, we mean it! Our recycled paper includes approximately 98% post-consumer waste.
Based at Gibson Island, you will be responsible for managing various material stockpiles across site, which is predominately done with a Front End Loader (FEL). This includes loading of trucks, moving waste to either landfill yard or fuel preparation plant, mixing of woodchip to feed into the wood system, emptying bins with a forklift, etc. In doing so there is a lot of interaction with others so it is critical to follow operating procedures and adhere to the site Authorised Access Area (AAA) rules. The role joins the Visy Paper 8 shift roster and while on shift reports to the Forman.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Deliver and load the conveyor with waste paper so as to feed the pulper
- Reporting of hazards and incidents in line with the sites safety system
- Involvement in completion and review of SWP’s, isolation sheets, toolbox talks
- Powered mobile equipment pre-start checks / daily cleaning & lubrication of PME
- Loading of trucks for material removal from site
- Management of waste stockpiles across the site, including loading of fuel preparation plant and taking reject material to the landfill yard
- Management of different fuels in the woodyard
- Assist with shutdown tasks
- Completion of shift log
- Emptying various bins of reject material
- Report and discuss all matters that may concern the Foreman
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM
- Prior experience in a similar role using Power Mobile equipment/Materials handling equipment
- Front End Loader and Forklift Licence
- Bobcat/ Dingo competency
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can demonstrate your mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressure
- Proven ability to assess, modify and direct maintenance of Mobile equipment as required
- You have a safety-first mindset and comply with OHS&E policies and procedures at all times
- Must have full working rights for Australia.
