Position Details:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our Year 7 department at John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS). This is a fixed term, full time (1.0 FTE) position for Semester 2, 2024. Primary trained teachers are encouraged to apply.
Year 7 at John Wollaston Anglican Community SchoolOur Year 7 students benefit from a unique transition program to Secondary schooling, where they are supported by a dedicated teacher for the majority of the day while also experiencing the Secondary environment by attending specialist classes. Four Year 7 classes are housed in a purpose-built Year 7 Centre with flexible learning and recreation areas. The Year 7 transition program offers a nurturing pastoral care system and supportive academic program. The successful candidate would be responsible for the planning and teaching of Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences. Selection Criteria:
The successful candidate must:
- Understand and support the Mission, Vision and Ethos and Core Values of The Anglican Schools Commission and John Wollaston Anglican Community School (the School).
- Actively support a child safe culture.
- Have a sound understanding of the content and structure of the curriculum, contemporary learning theory and appropriate means of monitoring and assessing student achievement.
- Have teaching experience in educational contexts which support students who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
- Demonstrate skills in curriculum differentiation and modification of learning tasks to meet specific educational needs.
- Be able to enthuse students and to develop in them a love and appreciation of learning.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the teaching, learning, assessment and reporting cycle using digital platforms, such as SEQTA.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills appropriate to planning and coordinating a range of teaching programs, including strong written and verbal communication skills and effective time management.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills being inclusive, collaborative, approachable, a good listener and having the capacity to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, parents and carers.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education in the related field.
- Be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Hold a current Working with Children Card.
