We are seeking an experienced and professional Youth Activity Officer with a passion for supporting the development and delivery of effective youth development services which are consistent with the needs and aspirations of young people, the broader community and Council.

In this role you will have the following accountabilities:

• Actively consult young people and participate in the planning and provision of programs for them to make a positive difference in their lives.
• Participate in the monitoring, evaluation and continual improvement of youth development services (including programs, policies and procedures) to maintain and enhance high quality provision of service to young people.
• Assist in the facilitation and delivery of youth focussed recreation, cultural and educational programs for the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale youth.
• Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders (including schools) to address youth issues and assist in the delivery of youth programs, activities and events (including Youth Week).

Our preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:

• Experience in engaging youth and delivering youth or community development programs for young people.
• Knowledge of Government policies, programs and funding that relate to young people.
• Ability to manage risk in relation to young people, premises and services.
• Sound understanding of emerging technologies and their usefulness in engaging young people
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to motivate, lead and engage with young people.
• A qualification or commencement of a qualification in in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services and/or Community Development
• Knowledge of youth services in a local government context.
• Youth Mental Health First Aid.
• Demonstrated knowledge of program planning: including consulting, implementing, evaluating and reporting.

We will negotiate a great salary with you up to $62,000 (pro-rata) depending on the experience you bring to the role. Core business hours of 2:30pm to 6:00pm will apply on weekdays during school terms (days of the week may vary), with potential for alternative hours during school holiday periods.
