Youth Events & Engagement Officer

- $76k - $89k per annum plus Super (depending on experience)

The Youth Events & Engagement Officer will be based at Bunjil Place however may also work at Youth Information and community centres within the municipality. Passionate about working with young people and the community, you will organise, develop and promote Council’s Youth Events, and provide advice and assistance to community groups and organisations delivering Events and activities within the City of Casey.

A bit about the role
As a Youth Engagement officer, you will provide new and accessible opportunities for young people across the municipality.
What you’ll deliver
- Development of strategies to encourage participation of young people in youth services and programs.
- Strong rapport with young people, parents/carers and/or community organisations.
- A range of programs addressing issues experienced by young people and the community.
- Collaboration across a variety of departments within City of Casey to deliver events for young people.
- Implement and evaluate the logistical aspects including the set up and pack up of equipment and displays for a range of Child, Youth and Family Services Events and activities.
- Ensure appropriate risk management strategies, operations plans, and emergency plans are in place for planned Events and activities.
- Monitor expenditure consistent with the approved budget in Event program areas, providing feedback to management, as required.
- Raise awareness of participation opportunities for young people and their families, and act as a resource and referral point for the community.
- Represent Council at official functions, meetings, and seminars etc. both during and outside normal working hours, as necessary to effectively carry out the position and to convey a positive public image of Council.
What you’ll bring
- A great passion for youth work
- Experience engaging with young people and understanding their needs
- Strong stakeholder management and creativity in co-designing programs and events
- Qualifications relating to Youth Work in line with position description.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check, Functional Assessment (Medical/physio), valid Victorian drivers’ licence.
