The Opportunity
Contribute to the engagement and participation of young people 12-25 years who live, work, study or socialise in Moonee Valley through supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and events using best practice youth work and youth participation models.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, administration and evaluation of youth engagement, projects, programs, events and committees across Moonee Valley.
- In consultation with staff, apply youth work principles in the facilitation of groups of young people to meet identified needs and aspirations of young people.
- Ensure program activities are undertaken in a safe and supportive, youth friendly environment and that risks are identified, appropriately responded to and managed.
- Escalate matters to staff by identifying issues of concern and referring to further support services.
- Provide sensitive communication and contexts for young people from diverse backgrounds, or with specific individual needs.
- Undertake administrative and communication tasks generated by the position, including program planning, data collection and digital promotion a range of platforms.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV or above in Youth Work / Community Development fields or lesser qualifications with some relevant experience.
- Experience working in a youth service setting or related field, delivering programs and supporting young people is desirable.
- Current Working with Children’s Check.
- Current and valid Victorian Driver’s Licence is desirable.
