Exciting opportunities to work as part of a new project team on the forefront of new innovation Your new company This Federal Government Department is a vital member of Australia's national security community and oversees many functions including international relations, scientific research and development, procurement and purchasing and industry development and cooperation. Their mission is to protect Australia's interests on both a national and international stage. You will be working as part of a project that is designed to turn innovative technologies into capabilities to help take the department further, faster. The project leads will take a strategically directed, mission-based approach to pull innovations into capabilities with identified transition pathways into acquisition. They will work closely with industry leaders to drive and develop capability and more effectively harness and coordinate the innovation ecosystem. The team prides itself on its ability to provide opportunities for industry and universities to partner with the department to explore emerging and disruptive technologies, and discover and nurture new innovations that will address priority capabilities. Your new role The team is seeking 2 x APS5 Administrative staff and 2 x APS6 Administrative staff. These positions will be dispersed across four branches to plan, manage and perform business support, clerical, administrative and managerial activities including human resources, finance, travel, program implementation, policy development, records management, procurement, capability management, quality assurance, governance, contract management and project support functions. This may include:
Coordinating administrative and business support activities for a Branch, Directorate or team and other work areas, identify risks and determine appropriate course of action to meet stakeholder needs;
Performing simple and complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities and tasks that support the delivery of outcomes;
Identifying and interpreting relevant legislation, policies, strategies, business and team requirements and apply these to the work area;
Providing advice and services for a range of simple and complex corporate, administration and business support activities;
Engaging and negotiating with stakeholders to achieve business outcomes;
Developing and implementing procedural, operational, corporate, administrative and business support documentation consistent with business requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications and/or relevant experience in business administration and management within Government or Defence;
Experience and competency using corporate business systems (including MyProcurement, MyFI and Objective);
Competently using Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and Project Professional 2016 and Power BI);
Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal to communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; and
Ability to prioritise own work load with minimal supervision to deliver agreed outcomes.
Please note: This is a security designated position and you will be required to hold a current Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance prior to commencement. You must be an Australian Citizen to apply. What you'll get in return These positions are available as labour hire contracts until the end of the calendar year with a further 12 month extension option. You will receive an attractive hourly rate and work at Brindabella Business Park in Canberra. Flexible work arrangements are available but will require some office attendance each week.
