OrganisationA progressive foster care and adoptions NFP looking for a newly created Aboriginal Practice Lead to build a culturally strong, safe and thriving community of Aboriginal and Torrens Strait Islander children and young people.
Role
The Aboriginal Practice Lead supports the cultural identity, safety and connection, ensuring that practice and support of children, and young people in their families and communities are culturally inclusive and to improved outcomes on Permanency Support Program.
- Conduct quarterly Cultural Consults with each Team Leader and Therapeutic Case Manager, and review annually each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Support Plan.
- Provide oversight and input into Safety Assessments for CYP int the PSP program and families in the IFP program.
- Support development of Positive Behaviour Support Plans for CYP to ensure that behaviours that challenge are addressed in a culturally safe manner from a trauma informed lens.
- Identify and build collaborative relationships with other agencies to develop a greater presence within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Create and facilitate regular training programs for all programs to assist in developing a collaborative environment where we are walking together
- Be involved in all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Permanency Support Consults with the Team Leader, Therapeutic Case Manager and DCJ Permanency Support Coordinator
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, and communities.
- Must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified
- Experience developing and reviewing Cultural Support Plans
- Experience conducting Family Finding within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice, support, mentoring and training to managers and employees
- Knowledge and understanding of challenging behaviours associated with addiction/mental health concerns.
- Ability to adapt existing evidence-informed approaches such as Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to ensure that evidences informed approaches are respectful to culture.
- This role requires a driving license and access to a vehicle
- All applicants will need to provide a WWCC and a National Police Check prior to starting in the role.
- All applicants must be fully vaccinated (unless medically exempt)
