Aboriginal Residential Centre Supervisor - Clerk Grade 5/6Corrective Services IndustriesNunyara Community Offender Support Program Centre
Location – Long Bay Correctional Complex, Matraville
Employment Type – Ongoing, Full-Time roles
Salary - $93,295 -$102,941 pa + Superannuation + Leave Loading
About the Role
What you’ll do
The ideal candidates for these roles will supervise a Residential Centre in compliance with agency objectives and legislative requirements.
The purpose of the residential Supervisor is to provide professional management, support and assistance to the residents of a Residential Centre and facilitate effective and efficient implementation of the Program’s Policies and Procedures.
The role operates without close supervision, within the specific authorities and / or limitations as per organisational practice or the directions given by the Residential Centre Coordinator / Manager.
This role is committed to improving outcomes for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This is a rotating, rostered position, working day and nights shifts across 7 days.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to Residents and Staff. The duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Resolve a range of family social and legal issues to ensure the placement and integration of residents into suitable community-based accommodation with provision of individual and group programs.
• Assess, provide individual counselling / advocacy and monitor progress of residents, as part of individual case plans.
• Participate in team case management of residents and develop case management plans and follow up plans, based on residents’ needs and goals.
• Participate in the provision of independent living skills and facilitation of group-based offender management programs.
• Maintain frequent contact with the relevant Community Corrections Office(s) to ensure adherence to supervision order requirements and notify them of any breaches, or potential breaches, of conditions of orders or unlawful behaviour.
• Supervise and instruct Residential Centre Assistants to ensure the effective and professional management of residents, and compliance with CSNSW policies and procedures.
• Enter case management information on relevant record management platforms as required in a timely and professional manner.
• Oversee financial transactions pertaining to resident board and lodging, adhering to relevant policy and procedure.
• Proven cultural capability, which includes lived experience, knowledge and understanding of contemporary social issues affecting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, including skills in identifying and/or responding to the diverse needs of Aboriginal people experiencing significant trauma and disadvantage.
• As an Identified role, this role is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia’s First Nations people. Where a position is identified, an applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and authorised by Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
What we’re looking for
• Formal post-secondary educational qualifications and/or experience in welfare related work or social science environment, or significant experience gained by working in similar related areas is highly desired
• Current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one within 3 months of employment with Corrective Services NSW
• Current driver license and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role.
