Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 19 function venues and extensive food-and-beverage facilities, the property is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Account Director specializing in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) to join our team at Shangri-La Hotel, Cairns. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales and business development within the hospitality industry.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to drive MICE business growth and achieve revenue targets.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and industry partners.
- Identify new business opportunities and generate leads through proactive prospecting and networking.
- Participate in the pricing for conference and events enquiries.
- Participate in the pricing for group enquires.
- Conduct property site inspections with clients to assist in conversion.
- Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
About you:
- A minimum of 3 years sales experience within the hospitality industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Evidenced ability to convert business and maximize sales performance.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Confident at managing clients over phone, email and face to face
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Suburb presentation skills in order to present to the client
