About Us
The Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA) was formed in 1969 as a non-profit organisation to promote the economic use of asphalt and bitumen-bound products based on sound technical and commercial grounds.
It is the peak body representing all of the flexible pavement industry in Australia.
AfPAs mission is to effectively represent the interests of all members and to promote the sustainable use of flexible pavements delivering smart roads for the future that are smooth, safe and well-maintained.
AfPA members include all major participants in the field of asphalt and bituminous pavements including asphalt producers, sprayed sealing companies, bitumen suppliers, consulting engineering organisations, tollway companies, major equipment suppliers and all State Road Authorities. It also includes a large number of Associate and Local Government members.
Role
We are in search of an Accounts Officer who possesses a minimum of 2 years of experience in general accounting and is adept at using Xero. This opportunity entails a part-time, permanent role that commences immediately. The weekly commitment will be 16 hours, with the potential for increased hours as the role develops. The work hours can be spread across 2-3 days.
In the beginning, on-site work at our Eight Mile Plains office will be necessary. However, once training and operational arrangements are finalized, there will be flexibility to work remotely from home.
The role of the Accounts Officer encompasses managing the financial aspects of the Association. The role will report directly to the Accountant.
Responsibilities
- Process Accounts Payable and Receivable transactions.
- Process credit card transactions and reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations.
- Complete journal entries in Xero.
- Process refunds.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and members and assist with any of their queries.
- Trade debtor management.
- Assist with accrual accounting.
- Assist with end-of-month processes and other financial functions.
- Assist with other accounting/finance tasks as requested by the Accountant.
Qualifications
- A certificate IV in bookkeeping or similar qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in bookkeeping/accounting.
- Advanced skills using Xero and Competency in the full Microsoft Office suite, combined with the ability to learn and utilise new software packages.
- High attention to detail, highly organised and able to multi-task.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team player who can operate autonomously as required.
- Capacity to work from home.
- Rights to live and work in Australia. “Must be” based in Brisbane.
- Experience in working with Salesforce is an advantage.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector and flexible pavement/road industry is an advantage.
