About the role
The VGSO's Finance Team are seeking a driven and proactive Accountant with generalist experience across all finance functions, who is looking for an opportunity to further develop their career and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will provide assistance across all finance functions, including undertaking month-end tasks, preparation of monthly management reports and periodic cash flow reporting. In addition, the roles assists our Finance Officers in performing accounts payable/receivable tasks as required.
This role requires an individual who thrives in an environment where they can use their initiative to improve finance systems and processes, as a key emphasis of the role will be focusing on enhancing the Finance Team's capabilities and functions through the use of our Practice Management System, Elite.
Key responsibilities
- Month end preparation and reconciliations
- Drive process improvement across all finance functions, seeking ways to improve and/or automate existing processes
- Prepare monthly management reports and act as a finance business partner for the legal branches.
- Work closely with the Information, Communication and Technology Team to roll out modules/extensions of the Practice Management System (Elite) and implement new processes for any enhancements.
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Support Finance Officers with accounts payable/receivable tasks as required
- Previous experience in a similar role with tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or a related field
- Completed or studying towards a Chartered Accountants (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) qualification
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Practice Management Systems (e.g. Elite) would be highly regarded
- Strong track record of providing service excellence and continuous improvement
- An ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills
- Experience within a legal, professional services and/or government environment would be highly desirable
