Our client is a leading Australian law firm providing comprehensive legal services across various practice areas to individuals and businesses. They are seeking a detail oriented Accounts Clerk to join their team. Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Accounts Clerk will be responsible for a range of general accounting duties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and trust accounting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Create and maintain vendor records, updating details as necessary.
- Handle office and matter-related invoices and disbursements.
- Prepare cheque/EFT requests and distribute office cheques.
- Provide remittance advices to external suppliers.
- Manage petty cash and CabCharge vouchers.
- Assist with month-end reconciliations.
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems, including archiving.
- Import daily files into the Practice Management System.
- Conduct daily banking activities for office and staff.
- Perform trust accounting tasks, including processing cheques and receipts.
- Process matter transfers and trust to office transfers.
- Print and email trust statements.
- Assist with investment processing and journal entries.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a law firm.
- Knowledge of Affinity or similar accounting software.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance.
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills.
- Proficient in data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong team player with the ability to work autonomously.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong customer service focus with exceptional communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
