Position Overview
As an Accounts Clerk at JHK Legal, you will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations within our law firm. You will work with legal practitioners, staff and clients to ensure accurate and timely management of financial transactions, billing processes and compliance with legal accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Bank account and general ledger reconciliations.
• Accounts payable and receivable including debtor management.
• Verify source funds for PEXA workspaces
• Create and provide EFT payments
• Generate and review client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing guidelines.
• Contribute to and, on occasion, oversee various aspects of the financial cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
• Assist with preparation of monthly management reports, financial statements, and cashflow forecasts.
• Assist with development and communication of the budgeting process and monitoring adherence to budgets.
• Where necessary, liaising with 3rd part providers e.g external auditors during the annual audit process.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with the relevant legislation and statutory reporting requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency within the department
• Assist with other financial tasks as required.
Qualifications and Attributes
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a law firm or legal environment
• Familiarity with legal billing software
• Strong understanding of legal accounting principles and regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with legal practitioners, staff, and clients
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
