Job description

Apromo Trading is a well-established medium-sized family-owned business specialising in the importation and wholesale distribution of premium imported European patisserie ingredients, finished chocolates, and gourmet foods. We service all parts of Australia via our Head Office in Rhodes, our warehouse & office facilities in Melbourne, and various interstate distributors.

We are currently looking for an Accounts Officer in our Head Office to support our Accounts Manager and assist our other accounts and administrative staff.

The Role:

Reporting to the Accounts Manager, Primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Accounts Receivable, including but not limited to daily receipts & collection,
  • Maintaining client accounts to ensure all  information is up to date,
  • Accounts Payable including posting of invoices & vendor reconciliation.
  • Daily bank reconciliation and enter bank entries into Xero,
  • Assist in end-of-month ledger reconciliation/journals including balance sheet,
  • Assist during end-of-month reporting and closing,
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors, customers, and internal departments.

Secondary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answering telephones and taking messages as and when required,
  • General administration and office duties including filing and photocopying,
  • Support Administrative staff as required.

Skills & Experience: 

  • The successful applicant must have an excellent understanding of basic bookkeeping and account payable principles,
  • Highly experienced in Accounts Payable taking primary responsibility for the full order to payment cycle,
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail,
  • Must be confident in collections of overdue accounts via phone and email as required,
  • Data entry of expense invoices in an internal system,
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge is a minimum requirement,
  • At least 5 years of industry experience with exposure to either balance sheet reconciliations or system-to-system reconciliations,
  • Must display professional presentation,
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with the accounts team to deliver on end-of-month and business deadlines, attention to detail and good communication skills are very important,
  • Experience in AP/AR is essential,
  • A degree in accounting is highly regarded. 
  • Good working knowledge of Xero software is highly regarded but not essential.

Essential:  

  • Applicants must have permanent residency and have unrestricted working rights.
  • Some extra hours maybe required with end of month and EOFY reports
