What’s the role all about?
The aim of the Aged Care Community Visitors Scheme (AVCVS) Volunteer Coordinator is to enhance the quality of life for older people living in Aged Care Homes and in their own residence. The objective of the ACCVS is to recruit volunteers who are matched to recipients and who make regular, at least fortnightly, visits either on a one-to-one basis or visiting a group of recipients. The development of the friendship provides an opportunity for the recipients to feel a continued sense of belonging with their local community.
As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will:
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers and match them to recipients within a specific region, meeting funded volunteer number targets.
- Maintain a positive relationship with Aged Care Providers, and other key stakeholders, and ensure matches between volunteers and care recipients enhances the life of the recipient.
- Follow best practice for volunteer management and organisational policies and procedures.
- Ensure that accurate data, information and statistics are collected and maintained, including maintaining all aspects of the ACVVS database.
- Volunteer and recipient recruitment and matching requires travel through the allocated region, you will be reimbursed for km’s travelled, however must be able to use your own car.
What region will I be working in?
You will be covering the Southern Metro & Gippsland suburbs of Melbourne and ideally reside in that region with knowledge and links within the broader Southern metro / Gippsland community.
