Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) is excited to present this awesome opportunity to community which aims to support and guide you in completing a Certificate III in Business Administration while professionally developing within the organisation. This opportunity is an identified position and is perfect for someone who is just as excited to be a part of our culturally supportive team environment where wellbeing for staff and community is our central focus. In this role you will be engaged in a traineeship with MAC to learn business administration skills and gain insightful experience in the world of community services and organisational operations. In this role you will help MAC contribute to the self-determination and fulfillment of our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities/families/individuals lives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Efficiently answer and direct phone calls, emails and enquiries from clients, community, agencies, and staff.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of office supplies, buildings, and fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective production, disbursement, management and storage of paperwork, documentation, and information to be readily accessible to community, agencies, and staff.
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of events, and meetings.

Essential

  • Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures preferably with established links to the local community.
  • A current Driver’s Licence.
  • Victorian Working with Children Check.
  • Victorian Police Check that doesn’t disclose any serious offences, and an ability to maintain currency over the duration of the employment contract. 

Key Selection Criteria

  • Willingness and commitment to work effectively as part of a team and deliver administration services to the organisation and assist the whole community.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills (or willingness to learn).
  • Computer literacy and ability to use computer applications (or willingness to learn).

We are a Community Controlled Organisation (Not-for-profit) that has been servicing the Aboriginal and/Torres Strait Islander community since 1994 when it was established by local Aboriginal Community Members. The purpose of MAC was and continues to be promotion of a healthy and proud community through motivation, education and cultural acknowledgement while ensuring a sense of belonging. MAC has grown to over 30 staff members and is projected to grow exponentially over the coming years. 

As MAC’s Administration Trainee you will report to our Office Manager. You will contribute positively to the Office Administration team, and all other program teams, and engage and build relationships with staff, community and external agencies with the common purpose of prioritising the health, safety and happiness of community. You will harness our values of cultural proudness, empowerment, collaboration, respect, integrity and compassion in all aspects of your position within community and MAC and will have these values reciprocated. MAC promotes a supportive and culturally safe environment in all personal and professional realms.
