The Payroll Project Officer role will work alongside the Project Support Officers and Project Lead helping with a payroll-related project. The Payroll Project Officer will be required to review and validate CDU records created by the Project Support Officers before any payment is made. These roles will be responsible for ensuring that all entitlements are correctly applied within the spreadsheets and assisting with questions of interpretation of the EA.
Key Accountabilities
Business Administration
- Provide an efficient and accurate salary review service.
- Present accurate records and correspondence to internal and external agencies.
- Liaise with a diverse range of clients.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained, including file maintenance and data entry.
- Accurately process financial transactions.
Liaison and Communication
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll procedures and practices by actively participating in review processes, project work, testing procedures, staff meetings, and liaising with the payroll team.
- Work effectively both unsupervised and co-operatively in a team environment.
- Ensure all our client Occupational Health and Safety procedures are implemented and followed.
Knowledge and proficiency
- Maintain knowledge of Our clients and Union Enterprise Agreement 2018 issues, policies, and guidelines, including salary-related awards and workplace best practices.
- Competently use:
- Human Resource Information Systems - e.g., ASCENDER, Staff Online, Content Manager
- IT systems such as Word, Email, Excel
For areas of operational responsibility:
- Ensure all activities comply with WHS legislation and our clients policy & procedure.
- Implement & monitor risk management activities (eg workplace inspections, incident/hazard investigation and follow-up, implementation of risk controls).
- Analysis of WHS training requirements for staff including the provision of training and monitoring of training to ensure completion and currency.

- Completion of a degree; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education or training.
- Demonstrated ability to use a payroll or similar system, or willingness to learn.
- Advanced level in the use of Excel.
- Capacity to organise and prioritise workloads with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
- Ability to receive and handle sensitive information proficiently and confidentially.
- Engage in effective and proactive teamwork, recognising the skills of others, and utilising cooperative approaches.
- Successful background engaging with staff, clients, and other stakeholders, through professional and positive approach to interactions.
- Efficient administration processing with a high degree of accuracy.
Desirable competencies
- Demonstrate knowledge of the regulatory requirements relevant to human resources, and payroll especially as they relate to processes, procedures and governance.
- Education, training and/or relevant industry experience in human resources or relevant area.
