Permanent rate currently $65.57 (1st year) to $71.18/hour (4th year), increasing from July 2024 to $67.53 (1st year) to $73.32/hour (4th year) + superannuation
Casual rate currently $81.96 (1st year) to $88.98/hour (4th year), increasing from July 2024 to $84.42 (1st year) to $91.64/hour (4th year) + superannuation
About the Opportunity:
St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital (SATH) has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our After Hours Nurse Manager team.
The After-Hours Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating nursing activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, during evenings and weekend shifts.

- Keen to make your mark by supporting our amazing team in providing quality service to patients, their families, team members
- Continuous Patient Flow: Monitor and manage patient flow within the hospital, collaborating with various departments to optimize bed utilization and ensuring staffing levels are managed within the approved resource allocation to meet patient care requirements
- Clinical Reasoning: Apply sound clinical reasoning skills to assess patient needs and coordinate appropriate services and resources for post-discharge care
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with patients, their families, healthcare providers, SATH team members and community organizations to facilitate comprehensive and efficient support systems for our patients
- Business Acumen: Demonstrate a strong understanding of healthcare business operations and financial considerations, ensuring the effective utilization of resources.
- Advanced level of clinical competence
- Well-developed communication skills to convey complex medical information in a clear and understandable manner with an ability to negotiate and influence
- High level leadership and team building skills and capabilities
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload demands
- Effective problem-solving skills and an ability to make timely and informed decisions in high-pressure situations
- Ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Minimum of four years post-graduate clinical experience in an acute clinical setting
- Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based practice and critical thinking
- Knowledge of and ability to implement contemporary care coordination practices
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
- Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years experience within an acute clinical setting
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) current qualification (or capacity to obtain)
- Ability to participate in a day, afternoon, night and weekend roster
