The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Afternoon Shift Manager is responsible for site operations management on Afternoon Shift

The role is also responsible for daily operational control and prioritisation of shift activities through the supervision of the team leader group - in particular with relation to Safety, Quality, People, Customer Service and Costs.

 

The Accountabilities:

Other duties also include but are not limited to:

 

  • Operational lead coordinator for decisions and escalation for safety, quality and operational problems which may arise on Afternoon Shift.
  • Ensure labour is utilised effectively, ensuring all site targets are met in accordance with the overall production schedule.
  • Site head leader on Afternoon Shift in case of an emergency.
  • Sets direction, leads and coaches the performance of all team members on shift to ensure achievement of site targets.
  • Compliance and assistance with execution of site performance management principles.
  •   Driving the APEX master plan and a continuous improvement culture, including leading and delivering cost based initiative to deliver site cost reduction targets.
  • Support the delivery of the site production plan and achievement of scorecard through the execution and delivery of key objective and optimal services performance.
  • Focus on short term strategic initiatives (6-12 months).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead front line leaders.
  • Highly developed and proven ability to problem solve as well as analyse complex processes and data to drive improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coach people including the ability to effectively performance manage teams and individuals.
  • Excellent influencing skills – Extend Collaboration, Coach and Develop others. Restless to be the best.
  • Strong communication skills, advanced negotiation skills and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to be effective despite conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategies and driving continuous improvement within a resource constrained environment.
  • Ability to think laterally and develop innovative solutions.
