The Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council provides a range of services to the remote community of Mapoon and surrounding geographical region. The area stretches from the southern bank of the Skardon River down to the northern banks of the Pennefather River.

The Position
The Aged Care Manager is responsible for maintaining a viable, efficient, and quality service. This involves leading and managing the service to ensure quality and professional Aged Care services are provided that meet the needs of Council, the Executive Team, clients, funding bodies and other service providers in accordance with contractual requirements and meets the needs of clients.
This position is based in Mapoon.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Considerable experience in a management role.
- A formal qualification in Aged Care, Disability or Health.
- A current Driver’s Licence.
- National Police Clearance
- An understanding of Indigenous societies and culture and of the issues affecting Indigenous people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances of Indigenous people.
- Demonstrated experience leading small teams through role modelling and the application of effective change management strategies.
- Ability to capacity build personnel, succession plan, and deliver work-based education and training when required.
- An attitude of discretion, integrity and professionalism, role modelling to a standard that inspires trust and confidence.
