Role Overview
The Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW) Agency Security Adviser reports to the DHW Deputy Agency Security Executive and is responsible for helping to develop and ensure compliance with the South Australian Protective Security Framework (SAPSF). This role involves providing specialized security advice and managing security emergencies for the Agency Executive and DHW business units.
The Agency Security Adviser will offer expert guidance to DHW on enhancing security measures for workforce resources and assets, including infrastructure, ICT, and biomedical equipment. Given the increasing complexity of risk threats across the portfolio, the Adviser will collaborate closely with other directorates, including IT Security Advisers, to ensure that protective security requirements are integrated into relevant systems, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Reports to the Deputy Agency Security Executive and maintains close relationships with the IT Security Adviser, Infrastructure, and DHW directors and managers.
- Liaises with a broad range of staff across the DHW portfolio, including Legal and Governance, Human Resources, Risk Management, Safety and Quality, Procurement, and Infrastructure.
- Coordinates with other Government Agency Security Advisors and Executives, government departments, agencies, and external vendors.
- Key responsibilities include identifying and managing security risks, ensuring effective security plans and procedures, and monitoring security systems to identify risks.
- Provides advice on protective security and risk management, prepares security reports, and assists with annual security attestation obligations.
- Liaises with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, emergency services, service providers, clients, and stakeholders, and responds to and coordinates security incidents.
About you:
- Australian Government AGSVA Security Clearance to the level of Negative Vetting 1 as a minimum.
- Security and Risk Management qualification or the ability to obtain.
- Demonstrated ability to apply high level oral and written communication skills in the presentation of coherent, logical, high-quality information and expert advice to Ministers, Chief Executive and high-level management as required.
- Experience in the delivery of successful project outcomes in a complex environment.
- Experience in research, collection, manipulation and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data; and the presentation of data for use by a wide variety of audiences, including large group presentations.
- Demonstrated high degree of personal integrity and credibility, proven ability to respond receptively to change in the working environment (including the ability to lead and evaluate change initiatives); and represent the department with professional competence.
- Knowledge of the South Australian Protective Security Framework.
