The Student Support Services (SSS) team works with schools and preschools to assist them to support the strengths, opportunities and additional needs of learners.The Social Worker - Duty Line is a member of a team that provides a centralised state-wide service for all consultations and referrals to Social Work Truancy (who work with children and young people with truancy, attendance, engagement and retention issues and their families) as well as providing advice to public education sites about attendance, engagement and other general wellbeing issues.
The Social Worker - Duty Line undertakes consultation on a range of concerns that broadly fall within student non-attendance and general wellbeing concerns. The position supports preschools and schools to engage students who are of compulsory school age and have become disengaged from the education system.
This position works with the professional support and line management of the Senior Social Worker - Duty Line. The service is operationally managed by the Statewide Services Operations Manager.

Essential: An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.People of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and/or those who have a disability are strongly encouraged to apply.For all other Special Conditions please refer to the Role Description.Application Instructions
