  • This position is a fixed term full-time opportunity commencing as soon as possible for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.

About the Role
The position works for the Superintendent Aviation Services to assist with planning and co-ordination of Air Operation bases, including the Large Aerial Tanker (LAT) Retardant bases at Busselton Margaret River Airport and RAAF Bases at Pearce and Gingin, for fire and emergency service activities throughout the state. These activities encompass operations, training, and staffing, as well as involvement in project management.
Key Requirements
Successful applicants will have:
  • Accredited Level 1 Incident Controller
  • Experience in and demonstrated knowledge of Aerial Suppression and/or Air Intelligence functions for aerial fire suppression operations.
  • Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal and training skills, including the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to develop, promote and implement risk management based prevention policy and programs in a large and diverse organisation.

Employment Conditions and Additional Information
DFES is an emergency services organisation and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies.
  • Employees in this position may be required to undertake regular intrastate travel (by air and/or road).
  • Employees in this position will receive Other Duties Allowance as per Clause 41 (WAFS EBA 2020).
  • Employees in this position must comply with Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Part 99 Drug and Alcohol management plans and testing.
  • Employees in this position must be prepared to undertake and maintain HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) and undertake required Class 2 medical assessment associated with HUET.
