Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Services provides high quality Forensic mental health care to people in contact with the criminal justice system and located within the Dhulwa and Gawanggal inpatient units. The service aims to provide collaborative, equitable and comprehensive health care to consumers within the service.
At this level you will provide leadership and be responsible for the day-to-day Clinical Leadership of the Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Services AOD Team. This includes coordinating access to AOD services within CHS; providing Clinical Leadership to the Forensic Mental health inpatient Services AOD nursing team and providing care coordination to patients accessing AOD services in custody including monitoring and maintaining access to Opioid Maintenance Therapies.
This position works collaboratively with all staff including to ensure optimum service delivery and best evidence practice. The role will be responsible for quality initiatives, data collection, analysis and procedure development.
The Clinical Lead AOD Nurse will work within the Custodial Health senior nursing leadership team to drive change and promote a high-quality service to patients. You will be required to undertake professional development, supervision, participate in quality initiatives, and contribute to the multidisciplinary team processes.

Canberra Hospital Expansion Project – CHS is constructing a new critical services building called ‘Building 5’ which is a 44,000sqm nine storey building specifically designed to deliver state-of-the-art acute clinical services at the Canberra Hospital. North Canberra Hospital - As of 3 July 2023 Calvary Public Hospital Bruce transitioned to CHS and became North Canberra Hospital. The transition will deliver a health system networked under one provider and will provide increased workforce opportunities for staff at both CHS sites. The ACT Government will be building a new northside hospital on the existing hospital campus in Bruce to meet the growing health care needs of our community, with construction to commence mid-decade providing more beds, increased services, and increased career opportunities.
