Funded by the state government this new full time fixed term position offers the opportunity for an individual enrolled in an AOD specific qualification such as AOD skill set (CHCSS00093)to develop their skill in a clinical setting, whilst completing their studies and being supported by an assigned supervisor.
Key components of this role are:
- Drug and Alcohol traineeship, working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Develop the skills and knowledge with supervision to assist in delivery of high-quality care by focussing on learnt theories and skills including : AOD counselling, Harm Minimisation, Motivational Interviewing & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Interventions and Treatment planning
- Communicate with consumers, family members, internal and external stakeholders
- Comply with relevant Barwon Health policies and procedures
- Reach a high level of capability along with your current studies relevant to this sector.
About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS)
MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment, and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients. MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery-oriented service delivery to redesign our service system.

About the Role
- Maintain case notes, client report and accompanying documents as required under supervision by clinical coordinator or person delegated to that role.
- Maintain links and provide secondary consultation with drug and alcohol referral services and other related health services.
- Provide assessments and reports to referring agencies and courts under supervision by clinical coordinator or person delegated to that role.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a broad range of services.
- Attend Triage, Clinical and Staff meetings as required.
- Record client information in the EMR database.
