The role
The primary function of the Alliance Health & Safety Advisor is to Provide contemporary professional support to the Sunwater and Alliance project team in relation to the management of health and safety risk and ensure fit for purpose systems are in place and embedded to provide optimal health and safety outcomes. This role plays an integral part of driving and delivering a safe work culture across the Alliance project team on a major water infrastructure construction project.
The Health and Safety Business Partner role will initially be based in Brisbane and the candidate will be required to have the ability to work as part of the Alliance site safety team in a construction project environment in a remote area. The role is for the lifecycle of the construction project anticipated to be 4 -5 years in duration.
Responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate the review and alignment of the Alliance OHS management system during the Alliance team establishment phase.
- Develop and implement contemporary health and safety management strategies, objectives, and targets in partnership with the Alliance Safety Manager and Alliance Management Team.
- Positively promote and actively role model the Sunwater values and behaviours to support the delivery of the construction project.
- Educate, train and coach internal and external stakeholders in relation to health and safety risks associated with day-to-day operations and establish methods to mitigate those risks in practice.
- Influence a pro-active culture across the organisation that promotes both individual and team commitment to safe work practices.
- Assist and align health and safety performance monitoring and reporting.
- Facilitate assurance activities and support relevant external audits.
About you
We are looking for someone with previous experience working in an Alliance or Joint Venture project environment team. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline.
- 2 – 5 years’ experience in a relevant field (ideally civil construction).
- Proven knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, codes of practice and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in ICAM incident investigations.
- Extensive problem solving in an evolving construction infrastructure environment.
