Based at Alexandra Hills, The Empowering Hive is a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation providing specialised therapeutic support services for Autistic and Neurodiverse young people under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We also provide services on a fee for service basis. Our Mission is to provide specialised services to grow the capacity and capability of our valued clients, so they can build independence and maximise their potential. Our Vision for all participants is to develop into valued members of society, contributing and flourishing.
We are closely aligned with The Sycamore School, a Prep to Year 10 school for young people on the autism spectrum.
The Role
We are seeking a proactive, committed, and experienced Allied Health Receptionist, four days per week. The successful applicant will have a confident understanding of reception duties and the ability to communicate effectively with therapists, parents, carers and educators. This position requires a high level of empathy, understanding, confidentiality and flexibility to engage with our neurodivergent participants and families.
The permanent role will begin part-time, four days per week, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Thursday with a view to extend to five days as the business grows.
Role to begin late March 2024.
Key Tasks
Providing clerical support to Practice Manager and reception services including, but not limited to:
- Screening calls and emails.
- Managing and scheduling client appointments using Power Diary.
- Transitioning young people to and from The Sycamore School via minivan.
- Meeting and greeting all clients and visitors.
- Supporting our therapist team (offering services in Occupational and Speech Therapy, Psychology and Play & Dramatherapy)
- Preparing Service Agreements for participants.
- Tracking and managing participant NDIS plan dates.
- Processing payments for NDIS and Fee for Service clients, including Medicare billing.
- Following up on overdue accounts.
- Monitoring stationery and office supplies.
- Maintaining a clean, calm, and safe environment for all visitors.

- Values neurodiversity and understands the importance of nurturing and supporting young people and their families.
Essential requirements:
- Has minimum 3 years in a similar role, preferably in Allied Health or disability sector.
- Holds a valid Open driving license (manual license highly desirable).
- Possesses a valid Blue Card or is eligible to obtain one and has the capability to successfully pass a NDIS worker screening check.
Desirable requirements:
- Has experience/knowledge of NDIS.
- Possesses experience with electronic client management systems (Power Diary highly desirable).
- Holds current first aid and CPR certificate (or willing to obtain).
