What you will do asan Analyst
Analysts in the Network Pricing Branch are responsible for assisting in the delivery of key components of work. Working under direction you will be required to progress specific tasks in a timely way, assist in developing recommendations reflecting evidence-based research, analysis and modelling, and communicate complex issues in a clear and concise fashion. You will need to work collaboratively with other team members and assist in interactions with external businesses and stakeholders. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work with interesting and knowledgeable people in a dynamic and challenging environment and allow you to contribute to meaningful decisions that impact the economic welfare of all Australians.
The Analyst role involves analysing inputs to the AER regulatory models, identifying modelling issues, assisting in developing solutions for complex problems, and drafting chapters of our publications to reflect the findings or modelling outcomes.
• Undertaking critical analysis of material and data available to the AER, and presenting information and recommendations for consideration by the AER Board and senior managers.
• Drafting decision documents for AER network regulatory determinations, other reviews of AER models and guidelines.
• Maintaining constructive working relationships with team members and working collaboratively with other teams in relation to the delivery of AER network regulatory determinations, and other reviews and reports.
• Assisting with managing AER data resources, including confidential data, in accordance with Australian laws, AER policies and team processing requirements.
About you
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
- A broad understanding, or ability to quickly acquire this understanding, of Australian energy sector and the role, purpose and objectives of the AER.
- Ability to:
- research, investigate and analyse complex issues, to identify industry trends, contribute to regulatory decisions and/or analyse policy issues.
- analyse quantitative data and qualitative information to draw accurate conclusions, and support evidence-based decision making.
- write a range of documents tailored to meet audience needs.
- work collaboratively with other people, help build and sustain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- plan, organise and prioritise workloads, and deliver tasks on time, and to a high quality.
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, corporate finance, engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies or related fields.
- Knowledge and experience of MS Excel, and data manipulation techniques.

Salary:
APS4 - $74,703 to $81,109 per annum (plus 15.4% superannuation)
APS5 - $83,320 to $88,348 per annum (plus 15.4% superannuation)
