The Analytics Senior Analyst will be responsible for the delivery of analytics to solve problems and provide insight and support to Internal Audit activities. This includes to provide evidence-based validation over the effectiveness of risk management processes and practices.What you'll do
- Responsible for the delivery of timely and quality Internal Audit services using DA procedures. This includes providing input into the scope of analytics work to be delivered through interfacing with business, data and Internal Audit stakeholders.
- Responsible technical delivery of multiple (often concurrent) analytic engagements with the support of the broader Internal Audit Data Analytics team and providing regular status updates to the Data Analytics Portfolio Manager and relevant stakeholder/s.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the services provided by the Internal Audit function through teamwork, innovation, and input into strategic initiatives.
- Articulate key data observations using clear and concise verbal and written communication.
- Produce high quality output that provides insights and guidance to improve control environments and validate risk management practices. This includes the effective use of data visualisation to generate relevant, meaningful and impactful insights.
- Qualification in one or more of the following fields desired: Analytics, Mathematics, Commerce, Actuarial Science, IT or Engineering.
- Demonstrated relevant experience: 3-5 years in a data centric role performing data analytics across disparate data sources to solve business problems, including building fit for purpose analytic models/tools.
- Advanced technical capability in SQL, including adaptability to different tools.
- Intermediate to advanced technical capability in Python is desired but not essential.
- Other relevant technical experience beneficial but not essential.
- Extensive experience across the analytics process: problem definition- solution design- data extraction, cleansing and validation- codification of testing / modelling- debugging- technical review- consolidation and output of results - communication of findings / insights.
- Demonstrated experience in building bespoke, sophisticated solutions using machine learning principles, including natural language processing algorithms is desired but not essential.
- Intermediate to advanced data visualisation experience in Tableau or other visualisation tools is desired but not essential.
- Understanding of database structures for core financial and operational application systems is desired but not essential.
- Experience working in Financial Services, Forensic, Actuarial Science, IT Audit and/or Internal Audit is highly regarded.
