We are seeking a Project Support Officer to join the fisheries department within the Queensland State Government, based in Brisbane’s CBD. This is a full-time opportunity until December 2024, with the potential for further contract extension.
In this role you will undertake work to improve the existing version of the Qld Fishing 2.0 app and help support the release of the recreational catch reporting enhancements.

As part of this opportunity, the successful candidate will be required to perform the following:
- Communications & Release of App - Assist with activities to prepare the Qld Fishing 2.0 app for the release of reporting by liaising with communications and digital solutions staff to ensure the alignment of information and details between the hard copy, web and app versions for species, rules and regulatory information, and to ensure that the information in the app is clear for end users.
- Source Images & App Enhancements - Work with Fisheries Qld staff and the communications team to source images for all species that are missing in the app and to see if there are any additional images to add for existing species to assist with identification.
- App User Interface Improvements - Gather the required information for requested additional species (from the existing fisherman feedback) and work with digital solutions staff to have them added into the app.
- App Release Support - Coordinate and provide user support including troubleshooting and assisting users where required (e.g. with log in and submission issues) and direct these to the digital solutions team as required.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting - Collect and collate feedback from app users about issues and suggestions for the app post-release.
- App Release Support & Engagement - Participate in engagement activities relating to the app as required.

Essential requirements for this role:
- Current possession of a Class C Driver’s License (mandatory).
- Ability to problem solve, escalating issues as they arise to line managers.
- Project management skills, including contributing to a high work volume and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Experience working with and communicating with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to utilise and navigate a range of digital platforms, including websites and applications.
- Ability to travel for short duration's (1-2 nights) may be required from time to time. Travel is usually within the SE QLD region, however may be to other state-wide locations as needed during business. Some limited weekend travel maybe required.
- Interest in QLD Fisheries and an understanding of the key importance of fishing to QLD and its communities.
- Ability to contribute to a good team culture and work autonomously.
- Ability to communicate with clarity, compassion and being cognisant of other perspectives.
- Previous experience developing and delivering communication around projects to a range of stakeholders, both verbally and in written form.
