We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finance Advisor to join our client within Queensland State Government. As a Financial Management Specialist, you will drive effective and strategic financial management outcomes for our client’s business areas. Your responsibilities will include projecting forecast spend, identifying funding risks, and costing new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly client meetings to discuss financial performance and strategic planning.
- Project forecasted spend and identify funding risks to ensure financial stability.
- Cost new initiatives and provide recommendations to support business growth.
- Identify, research, develop, recommend, and implement financial systems, policies, and business processes.
- Prepare complex briefing notes, reports, policy documents, and communications on finance matters.
- Deliver training in financial management, systems, and budgetary processes to finance and non-finance staff.
- Provide high-level consultancy and advisory services on finance matters, including legislative analysis and interpretation.
- Analyse and reconcile high-level data outputs to ensure the integrity of financial information systems.
- Provide technical accounting expertise in the preparation of statutory reporting, including annual audited financial statements and budget papers.
- Support and assist the Manager, Financial Services, in discharging the duties of the business unit.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Relevant certifications (CPA, CA)
- Proven experience in financial management, strategic planning, and forecasting.
- Strong understanding of financial systems, policies, and business processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
- Proficiency in SAP, Power BI and Microsoft Excel would be highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
This is a temporary opportunity through to the end of September 2024 with a possible extension.
