About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Applications Specialist to ensure the seamless integration, robust security, and optimal performance of applications within their updated operating environment. This role is integral to the strategic transition to Windows 11, requiring a proactive and technically proficient professional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review the current applications landscape, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and creating a remediation plan where necessary.
- Test and validate application compatibility with Windows 11, ensuring all applications meet the required supportability standards.
- Compile all applications into an application matrix to facilitate the rationalisation process.
- Identify redundant or obsolete applications and recommend rationalisation strategies to streamline the application portfolio.
- Collaborate with the Systems Engineer to set up and configure Intune policies.
- Conduct comprehensive testing of Windows 11 on various computing devices, ensuring all applications function correctly in the new environment.
- Assist in the documentation process of all current Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for Windows 10 and establish a new GPO baseline for Windows 11.
- Assist in reviewing and documenting current firewall rules, ensuring they are fit for purpose in the new SOE.
- Support the setup and configuration of Autopilot for device provisioning.
- Assist in configuring the Windows Store for application deployment.
- Provide guidance on implementing security best practices, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements within the Windows 11 environment.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong experience in application management, deployment, and support, preferably in a Windows environment.
- Strong understanding of the features, changes, and compatibility requirements of Windows 11 or Windows 10
- Proficiency in packaging applications using tools like Microsoft App-V, MSI, or MSIX.
- Ability to test and assess applications for compatibility with Windows 11 and identify any necessary updates or remediation.
- Familiarity with configuring GPO policies to manage application settings and behaviour within the SOE.
- Understanding of security best practices and the ability to ensure applications meet security requirements in the Windows 11 environment.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, gather requirements, and provide updates on project progress.
- Capability to troubleshoot issues related to application deployment, compatibility, and performance within the Windows 11 environment.
- Ability to document application rationalisation processes, deployment procedures, and configuration settings for reference and training purposes.
- Understanding of change management principles and the ability to manage change effectively throughout the application rationalisation and OE redevelopment process.
