Moyne Health Services has a wonderful opportunity for an Apprentice Chef to join our experienced team on a Full Time basis. No split shifts, no weekends, no night duty.
As an Apprentice Chef at Moyne Health Services, you will be working with the Hotel Services team under the supervision of a qualified chef to prepare high quality, nutritional meals to our Aged Care Residents as well as recipients of Meals on Wheels within the community.
Our Apprentice Chef is a full time role, worked from Monday to Friday, with the provision of an accrued day off per month. You will also attend South West Tafe regularly during your 3 year apprenticeship in order to complete your Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
About the Role
- Learn to plan, prepare and serve a menu of nutritious meals that are appropriate for a variety of age groups and competencies
- Train in basic culinary skills, knife skills, knowledge of ingredients, use of commercial equipment and kitchen procedures
- Assist to plan, develop and provide a menu on a weekly basis in accordance with current Food Safety regulations and Moyne Health Services' Food Safety Plan
- Work with your mentor to supervise and support catering staff
- Maintain the kitchen environment and equipment in a safe and hygienic manner
- Assist in keeping accurate records including purchase orders, supplier invoices, Meals on Wheels documentation and routine updates
