About the role
It's an exciting time to join Senex with the recent announcement that we plan to invest more than A$1 billion in a major expansion of our Atlas and Roma North natural gas assets.
As the Approvals Manager, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for securing and managing approvals crucial for exploration and production activities. This pivotal role offers strategic leadership opportunities and exposure to various facets of Senex's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Approvals Team in obtaining and maintaining necessary approvals for exploration and production activities.
- Develop and implement Regulatory Approvals Plans and Strategies to align with Senex's strategic objectives.
- Manage tenure and cultural heritage compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations.
- Cultivate positive relationships with key regulators, stakeholders, and industry bodies.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to the approvals team.
The role in more detail:
Tenure Management:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of tenement applications, from initial submissions to renewals.
- Oversee all tenure reporting obligations including production, reserves and well completion reports.
- Collaborate with environment, land management and project teams to ensure compliance with tenement conditions.
- Monitor tenement expiry dates and proactively initiate renewal processes.
- Ensure compliance with all overlapping tenure obligations, including obtaining Joint Interaction and Joint Development Plans with overlapping tenure holders.
Cultural Heritage:
- Assist with cultural heritage negotiations including consultation with Indigenous communities.
- Supervise the coordination of cultural heritage assessments, respecting the significance of land and heritage sites and compliance with Cultural Heritage Management Agreements.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with Indigenous stakeholders.
Project Approvals:
- Lead the approvals process for gas exploration and production projects including engaging with Infrastructure (pipelines and compression facilities) and Well Delivery Project Teams within Senex.
- Engage with local councils and Department of Main Roads to obtain and manage all necessary approvals and permits for road usage.
- Engage with overlapping tenure holders to obtain all necessary third party infrastructure crossing agreements.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- 8+ years' experience in project approvals, tenure administration, or related fields.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Results-oriented with advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in developing compliance systems and processes.
- Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with Queensland CSG regulatory landscape is advantageous.
