The Independent Assurance Review (IAR) and Smart Buyer Directorates undertake assessments of major capital acquisition projects and sustainment products prior to key project milestones. This position will provide the successful applicant with a broad exposure to the major capital acquisition and sustainment process from start to finish. Under limited direction, the successful applicant will perform and achieve complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce. They will be accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.About our Team
The Independent Assurance Review (IAR) Directorate undertakes assessments of major capital acquisition projects and sustainment products prior to key project milestones. These reviews provide high quality and reliable advice to the Defence Senior Leadership Group and Government regarding the status of these Projects and Products.The IAR Secretariat coordinates and manages all the necessary administration to facilitate these reviews. The role of the Administrative Officer manages the program schedule and contributes to the seamless execution of IARs. This position will provide the successful applicant with a broad exposure to the major capital acquisition and sustainment process from start to finish.Our Ideal Candidate
- Perform complex tasks and activities, work to agreed priorities and outcomes that support the delivery of procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities across Defence.
- Accountable to respond to complex operational, procedural, administrative and business support related enquiries and apply the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to provide advice and services.
- Identify and interpret relevant legislation, work practices, procedures and policies and apply these to the work area.
- Have skills and experience in gathering and using data to develop performance metrics and reports, which will aid in senior leaderships decision making about the frequency and timing of workshops and reviews.
- Have moderate to advanced skills using MS Excel to capture and analyse data and produce reports for Directors and Senior Management.
- Ability to identify broader factors, trends and influences that may impact on the team's work objectives. Including the documentation and implementation of improvements to streamline processes across the Directorates
- Perform budget bids on behalf of the Directorate and have the skills to be able to process invoices and manage Purchase Orders.
- Have the ability to perform administrative functions, which includes; supervision of staff, on boarding of new staff, Security Officer, Objective work group coordinator.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member, and provide constructive feedback.
- Build and sustain relationships with team members, stakeholders, and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
- Consolidate and analyse data and information, coordinate and assist in the preparation of written submissions, briefs, inquiry outcomes, corporate reports, minutes and other correspondence for Defence and external stakeholders.
