The Opportunity
This is your opportunity to join a supportive finance team characterised by a positive working culture. Initially, the role is offered as a 12-month non-ongoing contract, with a large possibility of becoming permanent as it’s a vacant position.
It serves as an excellent entry point for individuals seeking growth opportunities within the federal government. High performers will be eligible for consideration for Acting APS6 positions.
Additionally, this role presents an outstanding opportunity for an experienced accountant from outside the Public Service to transition their careers and gain valuable insights and career growth opportunities within the government.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in preparing journals, including monthly upload journals from different finance systems
- Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and annual financial statements
- Involve in month-end and year-end ledger close functions for the departmental or administered ledger
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements for reporting to the Department of Finance and Departmental Executive
- Liaise with the Australian National Audit Office on audit requests and coordination of financial statements audit activity
You are an experienced accountant or auditor. You are recognised for your strong technical skills, as well as your high level of attention to detail and analytical abilities.
You will likely have working experience in accounting or auditing, ideally in the Big-4 firm or other consulting and accounting firm, a large commercial or non-for-profit organisation, or within the government sector.

Salary / Rate
- $77k - $86k + 15.4% super
- 12 months non-ongoing contract with a view to permanent
