Lead the FP&A function and support the executive and Board to make informed decisions | Permanent leadership role with a highly regarded employer.

HorizonOne are partnering with Icon Water to recruit new team members into their Finance and Strategy Group.

With approximately 190,000 customers in the Capital region, their assets are worth over $3.2 billion comprising of the ACT’s network of dams, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, reservoirs, mains, and water and sewage pumping stations.  They turnover approximately $490M in revenue annually.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for to join the Finance and Strategy Group, helping the team move forward in a period of transformation.  The long-term strategy is to continually move towards an enabling environment where manual processes are streamlined, and data is used to drive smart business decisions as well as implementing a new corporate services delivery model which has resulted in a wide range of opportunities. 

As the Financial Planning & Analysis Team Leader, you’ll have influence across the organisation, collaborating with a wide cohort of stakeholders to provide valuable financial insights to the Executive and Board. Your role will be pivotal in driving process enhancements, working alongside a team of strong problem solvers who are outcomes driven and pride themselves in delivering high quality work. You will manage two FP&A staff members.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the consolidated budget and forecast for Icon Water and support the Board and Executive Team in making informed decisions
  • Manage the Plan to Perform (Pl2P) end-to-end process and drive process improvements
  • Responsible for preparation, maintenance and management of the budget and forecast calendar
  • Responsible for the development of Icon Water’s top-down, bottom-up and long-term plans and forecasts across the entire financial portfolio (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and capital) and across internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Prepare consolidated business performance report and provide insights, commentary and recommendations to support data-driven Executive and Board decisions
  • Responsible for submission of financial performance reports to the ACT Government and other external agencies
  • Provide support to Executives and the Board to make data-driven decisions on Enterprise-wide initiatives and benefit management
  • Develop a benefits management framework and be responsible for adequate application of the framework across the organisation
  • Liaise with stakeholders to provide value-added financial and commercial advice and assist in the development of sustainable solutions across the Financial Planning, analysis, reporting, and functional systems set of services 
The Ideal Person

Given the senior nature of this influential role, you will require first class communication skills and a naturally curious nature in order to ask the right questions and understand the many layers of the business. 

Once you grasp this, you can then really add value through your analysis, written & verbal influence, and financial management skills. Questioning assumptions, dissecting financials and talking to key stakeholders are key parts of this role.  You are likely a highly experienced FP&A professional who is known to be a high performer coming from a commercial or consulting background and have built complex budgets from the bottom up.

In addition to the interpersonal and communication skills, we also require;

  • Relevant finance qualifications (CA/CPA preferred but not necessarily essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex scenarios and provide astute / concise financial and corporate commentary
  • Strong experience in business report writing and using various account types
  • Highly developed finance systems skills including Excel 
Salary / Rate

The salary band starts at $161,277 + 15% Super.
