Position Overview We are seeking a Training Support Coordinator for a role focused on supporting a unique educational program aimed at enriching the skills and knowledge of Indigenous trainees. The position is based in the Cairns office and involves both teamwork and independent work under general guidance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting our Training Team, dedicated to a program focusing on biosecurity and environmental stewardship among Indigenous communities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Facilitating engagement activities for Indigenous trainees, such as regular discussion groups and coordinating educational sessions.Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including trainees and community members.Providing comprehensive administrative support.Organizing travel arrangements and logistics for various training events and activities.Overseeing database and spreadsheet management.Handling financial tasks, such as processing payments and assisting with contract management.Supporting the procurement of educational materials and services.Drafting and preparing various types of correspondence and documentation.What We're Looking ForKnowledge and Experience:An understanding of, or familiarity with, the current issues and cultural considerations relevant to First Nations communities.A track record of assisting First Nations individuals in achieving educational, employment or training outcomes.Proven experience in delivering high-level administrative support, including but not limited to data analysis, report preparation, and logistics coordination.Experience or a keen ability to grasp procurement and contract management practices.Skills and Capabilities: Successful candidates will exhibit:A demonstrated ability to effectively support First Nations learners.Advanced administrative skills, with a proficiency in creating high-quality reports, managing contracts, and developing internal communications.Strong organizational talents, including managing deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and efficient time management.A detail-oriented approach with the skill to apply context to information.Decisive thinking, leveraging experience and data for timely decision-making.Excellent communication abilities, both verbally and in writing.Teamwork and collaboration skills, with a penchant for contributing to a supportive work environment.The capacity to adapt, remain resilient under pressure, and handle multiple priorities with sound judgement.A commitment to integrity, initiative, and accountability.Analytical skills to evaluate situations, consider alternatives, and devise appropriate solutions.This is a full-time 6 month Non-ongoing opportunity, employed directly by the Australian Public Service. The successful candidate will be offered APS5 in line with current EA. Hybrid flexibility will be offered following the training period.
