Your new company
Join a Federal Government department located in North Cairns. You will safeguard Australia’s plant health status to achieve, maintain and expand overseas markets, while protecting the economy and environment. Your section also delivers the Business Management Unit (BMU) which provides corporate and strategic support across the branch.
This is a full-time 12-month non-ongoing contract starting ASAP, based in Cairns.
Your new role
APS6 Senior Project Support Officer lead a small team responsible for program governance, project delivery and other support functions for an important program. The position is responsible for the provision of high-level support and advice on complex administrative and resource management issues, co-ordination and delivery of a wide range of business improvement projects, and management of routine program support activities
You will be responsible for all administration functions of the team –
- Providing a range of project management and contracting support services, including preparation of procurement advice to ensure project outcomes are achieved to a high standard
- Supporting the preparation and maintenance of project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes
- Analyses of information to ensure consistency in advice and reporting, quality assurance and ensuring that deadlines are met.
- Sourcing, collating and presenting data that supports business change and informs robust decision-making
- Establishing strong working relationships with colleagues Australia-wide as well as other team members in Cairns
What you'll need to succeed
In this role, you’ll need a strong blend of knowledge, experience, and skills. Your background should include project management and/or program design experience. Proficiency in using TechnologyOne or similar Financial Management Information Systems for contract management is essential. Additionally, you should have experience in preparing and administering procurement contracts. Your ability to create high-quality written communication, including correspondence, agenda papers, briefs, discussion papers, meeting minutes, and reports, will be crucial.
Equally important is your proven track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse range of government and non-government stakeholders. While not mandatory, relevant tertiary qualifications in project management and business administration would be highly desirable.
