Salaries in the department are provided through its Enterprise Agreement and supporting s.24(1) Determination. They may also be provided through Individual Flexibility Arrangements (IFA).
The department has an Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA) Framework applicable to employees at the APS6 and Executive Levels. Employees at these classifications may be eligible to receive salaries set out in the IFA Framework which are above those set out in the Enterprise Agreement and supporting s.24(1) Determination.
These IFAs can be negotiated prior to commencement and the IFA will be provided to staff on commencement with the department.

The opportunity we have available
The Vehicle Safety Operations Branch is Australia's national vehicle standards regulator. We work to enhance Vehicle Safety, emissions control and anti-theft protection to ensure the Australian vehicle fleet is safe and efficient.
From 1 July 2021 the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 (RVSA) has been in force. This legislation sets vehicle standards for all new vehicles entering the Australian market and regulates the supply to the market of used vehicles.
The Application Assessment and Approvals team is responsible for:
- Administration and assessment of applications for vehicle imports under Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 (RVSA)
- The Level 1 Support function to external stakeholders through emails, website enquiry forms and the 1800 815 272 phone line.
- Apply judgement and knowledge of legislation, instructions, guidelines and procedures to conduct routine quality assurance checks on outcomes of vehicle import applications across technical and general assessments.
- Provide sound advice and recommendations which influence the decisions made on process improvements and training requirements.
- Contribute new ideas and maximise the benefits of change, including the identification of opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes.
- Confidently discuss/escalate complex or difficult issues/risks in a clear, concise and articulate manner as they arise.
- Undertake procedural, clerical, administrative support of operational tasks including supporting team members with branch governance functions.
- Deliver quality outputs for the team. This may include but not limited to the allocation/development of specialist resources, manage any potential/identified risks and provide feedback.
- Prepare executive briefing material and analytical reports, this may also include responses for freedom of information requests and ministerial correspondence.
- Evaluate and analyse complex and technical information and data, apply research to solve problems and effectively make informed decisions.

- Demonstrated experience in risk management, quality assurance, application processing, and/or assessment of regulatory compliance.
