YOUR ROLE
Working across our Subiaco, Cottesloe and West Perth galleries, you will play a key role in daily operations. You will be expected to sell artwork to art buyers, working with our artists and ensuring client satisfaction. You will be part of a team where honesty, accountability, safety, respect and professionalism will be how you work daily. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- To support sales strategies and initiatives across all galleries.
- To manage sales inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Greeting and assisting visitors, artists and clients.
- Working towards daily budgets for the gallery as well as for individual artists.
- Processing the registration of incoming and outgoing artworks.
- Assisting with Artist records and client mailing lists
- Assisting with administrative tasks and exhibition organisation including gallery presentation.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- A knowledge of art and current art markets.
- 1+ year of retail and sales experience.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of people appropriately and courteously both verbally and in written communication.
- With a focus on service delivery, the ability to work flexibly and outside core hours including regular weekend work and some evenings.
- The ability to work cooperatively and positively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills. Being self-motivated with good time management skills.
- An appropriate fitness level to carry out the regular lifting and carrying duties relating to exhibition projects, moving artworks and merchandise.
- Understanding of safe manual handling practices and operation of equipment for yourself and for those around you.
- Undertaking any other duties within the scope.
- Advanced computer skills in Mac OS and MS Office and the ability to learn other software quickly.
- A valid C-class driver’s license.
Desirable
- 1+ year of experience in a Commercial Art Gallery.
- Knowledge and experience in exhibition installation, de-installation and the preparation of artworks and objects for display.
- Experience using the FileMaker Pro system.
