The Courthouse Gallery+Studio is a Town of Port Hedland facility, and The Junction Co. deliver services on the Town’s behalf.
Located in the central Portside precinct of Port Hedland, the Gallery features floor to ceiling exhibition space and showcases local and regional emerging and established artists.
The Courthouse Gallery+Studio Manager is responsible for the operational management and overall leadership of the team, guiding the team to realise The Junction Co.’s values, strategic plans and stakeholder obligations, to engage, grow and empower regional creative industries.
The Courthouse Gallery+Studio Manager's responsibilities:
• Lead the Courthouse Gallery+Studio programming, designing, developing and implementing programs that reach diverse audiences, creating opportunities for collaboration and program growth.
• Lead and develop the Gallery+Studio team to be empowered to perform to the best of their abilities in pursuit of their goals and agreed objectives, and foster a team environment based on Junction values.
• Manage and plan the Gallery+Studio’s budgets and associated financial system requirements, meeting necessary KPIs (programs, retail, exhibitions, facility).
• Ensure the Gallery+Studio is appropriately organised and staffed including source, manage and enable the work and capability development of team members, volunteers.
• Manage Gallery+Studio programs in line with KPI requirements, including exhibition and public program, artist in residence program, Ceramics Studio program, Maker’s Space program and community engagement activities.
• Manage the Courthouse Gallery+Studio website, online shop and social media profiles.
• Manage the retail store, stockroom and consigned artwork stock, in accordance with KPI’s.
• Actively advocate and represent the Gallery+Studio within the community, building relationships with peer organisations and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
• Carry out community and stakeholder engagement strategy, collaborating with other agencies, institutions and community to build the profile and represent The Junction Co. in such forums.
• Manage team onboarding (inductions, HR, professional development planning), rostering, performance reviews, and recruitment processes where relevant.
• Management of financial processes (G+S budgets, quotes, invoices, grant/sponsor acquittals).
• Research, source, and write funding applications for programs and exhibitions; carryout relevant acquittals where required.
• Complete internal program, partnership and sponsor reporting as required.
• Ensure the Gallery+Studio operate within the confines of legislation (OHS, WWCC, etc) and that the safety management plans are implemented, ensuring all staff and contractors are appropriately trained and comply to safety standards.
• Ensure a safe working space for the team and community members.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Experience in and passion for the arts, creative enterprise and/or community services sector
- Outstanding time management and task prioritisation skills
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Demonstrated high level of written communication and financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to develop and foster relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Strong conceptual thinking and big ideas
