The Role
The Asset Accountant reports to the Manager, Accounting and Reporting (Fixed Assets) and assists the Senior Asset Accountant (Land & Buildings) as well as the Senior Asset Accountant (Plant & Equipment, Intangibles).
The purpose of this role is to assist in business processes of accounting for assets to ensure ongoing compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994, Financial Reporting Directions and Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) accounting standards. As part of a small, high-performing team, this is a dynamic role with responsibilities across the full end-to-end asset accounting function. This role will work with various teams within the department to achieve best practice and to identify process improvement opportunities.
To be successful for this role you will need:
- Technical accounting skills in state government accounting
- Excellent technical skills within a large financial system
- Excellent Excel skills for analysing large datasets
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and negotiation skills
