The Assistant Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the Financial Accountant and Financial Controller in various accounting functions. You will assist with financial reporting and analysis, including end-to-end month-end processes (including balance sheet and P&L), involvement in statutory (including assisting in yearly and half-year audits) and compliance reporting
Your day-to-day:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.
- Assist in Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the finance team in the budgeting and forecasting process by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
- Reporting: Preparation and ownership of BAS/IAS and ABS surveys.
- Regular update of cashflow: Cash Management in conjunction with the Financial Accountant. Assisting in FBT returns and involvement in developing policy and procedures for record keeping.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance to support decision-making.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Minimum tertiary degree qualification in Accounting/Finance
- 2 years of similar experience within the professional services sector
- Ideally studying towards Professional Accounting qualification (eg. CA, CPA)
- Experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within a professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Deltek) and MS Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Work from home 3 days per week
