The Assistant Accountant primary objective is to assist the Financial Controller in managing the finances of St Vincent De Paul (Society) Housing Australia. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for maintaining the GL and Balance sheet reconciliation, assisting in month end procedure, producing reports and budgeting.
St Vincent De Paul (Society) Housing Australia is a not-for-profit organization which provides appropriate, secure, and affordable rental housing and works to create socially inclusive neighbourhoods. It is a Registered Tier 2 Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing. St Vincent De Paul (Society) housing Australia seeks to “bring hope through housing” to those who are disenfranchised in our society as a consequence of the lack of safe, secure and affordable housing.
The role
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, General ledger/accounts reconciliations.
- Month end processing support such as preparation of month end journals and management reports
- Supporting the year end audit preparing schedules, documentations and addressing the queries
- Assisting in Preparation of BAS
- General accounting support to the whole team.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as required.
- Maintain Fixed Assets register and monthly fixed Assets reconciliation.
- Accounts Payable
- Assist with preparation of annual audited statutory financial reports.
- Support Financial Controller in ad hoc duties.
Your Background
- Minimum 2 years financial accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience or familiarity working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be highly regarded.
- System Migration experience is desirable.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel as a minimum is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a challenging work environment.
- Strong reconciliation skills.
- High level of ethical standards, including those of confidentiality, honesty, and integrity
- Capacity to implement and work within the Mission and Code of Conduct of St Vincent de Paul (Society) Housing Australia.
