POSITION: Assistant Accountant
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent - Full-time
REPORTS TO: Finance Director
LOCATION: East Hills, Sydney
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide Accounting support to the Finance Director and Head Office team for our group businesses.
Monday - Friday from 8.30am – 5.00pm daily.

The Family Office supports the Hodge Family as they develop and manage multiple properties, pubs and businesses, as well as the administration for all financial family matters.

Experience with Award interpretation for Payroll purposes will be looked upon favourably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full end-to-end weekly payroll processing for a small number of Employees
- Ensure employees are paid accurately in accordance with NES and/or the industry Award
- Maintain employee master file details in system in a timely, confidential manner
- Provide quality responses to pay queries and own the resolution of the query
- Interpretation of Awards and employment contracts
- Setup and maintenance of payroll records including new starters, employee changes and terminations
- Calculation and processing of termination payments
- Full end-to-end weekly AP processing for various businesses in the group
- Process Accounts Payable, ensuring creditor invoices are authorised, accurately entered into the financial accounting system and paid in a timely manner
- Process payments via banking software system and review to ensure accuracy
- Maintain bank and credit card accounts and ensure entries are processed and reconciled
- Reconcile Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss on a monthly basis
- Prepare Management Reports on a monthly basis
- Prepare annual Statutory Accounts, workpapers and tax reconciliations for external accountant/tax agent
- Prepare Activity Statements (monthly IAS and quarterly BAS)
- Assist with ensuring all available government subsidies are being claimed
- Assist with maintaining internal control systems
- Management and protection of confidential information daily
- You will also be required to perform such other duties and responsibilities required by the group from time to time.

- Demonstrated experience in full payroll function
- Demonstrated experience in full AP function
- Strong knowledge of excel
- High attention to detail
- Demonstrated problem solving
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to be flexible and have great multitasking skills
- Experience with Deputy, Lightyear and Xero an advantage
Qualifications
- Accounting degree or studying towards one
- CPA/CA designation or studying towards one
Personal Specifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting a Finance Team for at least 2-3 years
- Intermediate to advanced skills across Microsoft Office 365 suite of products including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Quickly adapts to new technology and systems and is comfortable trying new systems
- High level of professional communication and writing skills
- Maintains a very high work ethic and integrity at all times, particularly as the person will be subject to highly confidential business and personal matters
