The Opportunity
As an organisation, we strive for innovation and excellence in service provision and are excited to have an opportunity for a self-motivated, dynamic Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time basis.
As an Assistant Accountant you will be involved in the day-to-day finance transactional activities. You will also assist with other accounting functions such as reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, ad hoc reports and record keeping as required.
The key responsibilities for this role are;
- Support the Finance & Administration Manager to track business targets,
- Preparation of monthly and ad hoc financial reports,
- Undertake the accounts payable function, managing purchase orders, processing staff reimbursements, processing weekly payment runs,
- Treasury,
- Assist with client Trust Statements and reconciliation of trust accounts,
- Address various client trust account and client spending queries in a timely manner,
- Complete monthly reconciliations of multiple bank accounts, petty cash and corporate credit card,
- Assist with month end closure processes, including creditors, debtors, and general ledger reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner,
- Support Midway to meet its internal and external reporting requirements including interim and annual audits,
- Maintain records in accordance with the relevant standards, legislation, agreements and Acts.
To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following;
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Diploma in Accounting (or working towards). Experience relevant to the role will also be considered,
- Demonstrated experience using MYOB Advanced or other MYOB products to a high level,
- Excellent reconciliation and problem-solving skills,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation,
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience with using Microsoft Office suite, including Excel,
- Accurate data entry skills,
- Sound time management skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritise workload,
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Not-for-Profit section (Not essential)
