The Role
Due to our ongoing growth, we have an opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to support both our Financial Controller and Senior Accountant. This entry level accounting role will manage all facets of transactional accounting, assist with the preparation of reports and provide support to our end-to-end payroll processes. The role is designed to evolve with our future business plans.
What you will be doing
- Manage daily financial transactions for budgets, accounts payable, purchase orders, payroll (and timekeeping via Human Force) and business expenses
- Support the Finance Team with weekly, monthly and annual accounting processes including completion of General Ledger, Balance Sheet, producing P & L’s as well as meaningful presentation / analysis of financial information
- Provide insights, analysis and transactional commentary to Senior Leaders / stakeholders in relation to all aspects of financial performance
- Support Senior Accountant with BAS / GST, IAS, reconciliations and other compliance obligations to meet deadlines
- Assist Finance Team with forecasting / budgeting and analytics (including both current and historical data / practice)
- Respond to email queries from suppliers and customers in a professional and timely manner
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis on current (new) Projects and change initiatives
- Collaborate with all functional teams and internal / external stakeholders to continually improve financial systems, processes and reporting
- Undertake auditing, reviews, market analysis and other projects directed by Financial Controller
About You
- Ideally, a recent undergraduate degree (or near completion) in Accounting / Finance with experience with Xero or similar systems
- Ideally transferable experiences (1 - 2 years) in a finance / payroll partnering role within a comparative environment (retail / hospitality)
- Detailed knowledge of finance applications, transaction flows and related accounting entries.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial software / BI tools or data analytics (Power BI)
- Exceptional eye for detail and strong organisation skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret / apply data and draw meaningful insights
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders to support financial functions
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with financial modelling and analysis
- Customer service driven with a positive can-do approach
