The Management Accounting Section plays an integral role in the effective and efficient management of resourcing across the department and provides trusted advice on financial matters. It is responsible for managing the internal budget process from the development of the budgets through to monitoring, forecasting and reporting results. The team fulfils these important tasks through effective regular liaison with divisions within the department.
As an Assistant Business Manager, you will contribute to the effective and efficient management of resources across your Division/s of responsibility. Your role will span a range of budget and staff management tasks, with a focus on maintaining appropriate accounts on behalf of the division and providing strategic advice in relation to resource management. You will be required to source and interrogate information, provide financial or corporate advice and make recommendations for the appropriate management of Divisional finances. To discharge your duties, you will be required to work closely with teams within the Division, the broader Business Manager network and Corporate Division.
Some of the key roles will include:
- developing and input internal Departmental and Administered budgets and forecasts using TM1
- create, interrogate and distribute regular and ad hoc financial reports from TM1/ excel ensuring a strong attention to detail
- build and maintain strong relationships with your division/s, develop and build the financial capacity of staff within your division/s
- monthly Journals
- follow monthly process and liaise with your division/s to process monthly journals within tight time frames.

- Previous experience in managing the finances of a cost recovery program
- ability to develop and maintain relationships, particularly senior management, as well as stakeholders in the Financial Services Branch of the Division
- ability to manage and meet a variety of regular and ad-hoc reporting deadlines
- strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information in a concise manner
- demonstrated personal drive and integrity.
